What is The Touch?

It is very similar to a bloodhound's sense of smell. With it, a person can feel subtle chemical traces on both living and inanimate objects.

Sagarts, those who are trained to interpret what their Touch tells them, are able to use it to heal, to determine who handled an object last, to tell if someone is lying, to help farmers know when to plant and harvest. Townsfolk and farmers alike have come to depend heavily on the services provided by the sagarts.

In Catair, few people have this ability. The rare individuals who do are usually identified early. Without training, a person will usually block out The Touch, since it makes coming into contact with many everyday objects, such as leather, very painful. It requires strong discipline to live with The Touch, but those who do can not imagine living without it. It is how they interpret their world.
